I will be getting a gas ration card so gas prices are not an issue for me.

As someone stated, Lexus have dealerships not far from your destination and you have an extremely reliable car that will probably cost you nothing other than routine servicing. Lexus are quite common in Europe, not up there with BMW and Audi but you will still see a few around just no 350's.

Fuel is much more expensive, so if you are commuting miles to your place of work or plan on driving around Europe exploring etc you may decide its not that cost efficient to run it out there, the place is diesel dominated and most Lexus will be hybrid cars. The EU really is hell bent on changing things, Germany want to get rid of all petrol and diesel cars by 2030.

However if it costs you nothing to ship it out and fuel / mileage isn't an issue there's no reason you can't take it. I would worry more about the car being damaged in transit.
I just hope that the Lexus dealerships in Germany are the same as in the US. Meaning... do they have an auto shop attached to the dealership? I've been to some countries and would see the dealership where they only sold cars but did not service them at the dealership. I also hope that they honor the US warranty since the car is coming from the US and was not bought in EU.

Yep for the Auto Shop! For the warranty I don't know. Maybe your dealer can help.

I'm kind of leaning towards "I would take it with me". It'd be a fun car to have over there.

Out of interest what is the US warranty?. I'm in the UK and we get a three year manufacturers warranty . We need to purchase an extended warranty thereafter. I can imagine Germany is the same as us, however before you make a decision it may be worth contacting Lexus, either in Germany through their main website or perhaps back home. I can imagine there will be some scratching of heads, having owned BMW in the past it always struck me that you guys in the US had better consumer protection than us in Europe.

That would be interesting you shipping your car to Germany. I think if you really like your car ship it but if not maybe purchase another vehicle there?

Lexus here can handle us imports in case of repair or maintenance.

That depends on your dealer.
For imports yes, used cars (via dealer) partly. For a car in use I don't know.

So it sounds like they can take care of my car BUT it also sounds like they may or may not honor the factory warranty. Either way any issue I have can be addressed by the German Lexus dealer but I guess the question I need answered is will Germany honor the US factory warranty.

Thanks for this information. This really helps!
