I agree it's likely very rare. But still a bit upsetting. You don't really hear about any car gauges just dying like that. I suppose it's just the same as any computer monitor I guess. Sometimes you get bad ones.

I have a $3500 imac and its 27" screen stopped working after exactly two years. Apple wouldn't even good will a percentage of it.
