Default Transmission shift speed

Hi, is the transmission the same in the 200t as it is in the 350. The one in the 200t shifts way faster than my 350. The 200t is my brothers and both the cars are Breyer the 200t shifts like a BMW ZF transmission while my 350 shifts fast but not nearly as instant as his 200t. Can someone please tell me it's just in my head and that in paranoid?

It should just be paranoia, but I haven't tested the 350 with the new 8 speed. However, I am surprised you feel the 200t is faster to shift. I feel the lag constantly; especially off the line, it seems like there's at least a 1 second delay between pressing the accelerator and any acceleration occuring.

Not sure exactly what you mean by "shifts faster". Do you mean how long it takes to transition from one gear to another? In my IS 350 it happens so smoothly (and fast) that I could not even detect a moment when I am out of one gear but not yet exactly in the next gear (in other words between gears). My transmission is 8-speed.

The only time it's slow to shift for me in paddle mode is if i'm cruising down the highway at 80 in 8th gear and want to drop it into 5th to floor it.

So it is probably just in my head, because from watching the tach it seems the 200t shifts faster.

There is definitely a noticeable delay from the time you hit the paddles to the time the transmission responds. The ZF in my friend's BMW is instant, just as quick to respond as a dual clutch! I didn't notice the delay in my transmission until i tried out his. The RCF does not have the delay, their transmissions are tuned more aggressively.

Hopefully a transmission tune comes out. That delay is pretty ridiculous.

Would the RCF TCU work or is it programmed specifically for the v8?

I'd hop on that right away, it's so ridiculous restricting a transmission with so much potential. It's like what they did with the is300, uses the same engine as is350 just detuned. We have the same tranny as the RCF but again, detuned. come on.

Porsche does this as well, so I've read. Apparently they admit to it simply because the Cayman can't be allowed to be faster than the 911.
