Default Sport mode question

Just picked up a 2015 IS350C and noticed that the car lunges a bit between gears while in sport mode. Anyone notice this? Is there a certain rpm range that I should be shifting? Coming from a BMW 135i with double clutch, while I knew it wouldn't be that smooth, this seems a bit awkward.

The only time I notice a lunge is when i put it into sport mode while I am driving in regular mode. If I turn it on at a stand still then just drive with sport mode I don't notice any lunges. It is more aggressive with holding the gear but nothing that you are describing.

Thanks I'll have to try from a stand still. Most times I'm shifting into sport mode while moving. I also notice that the lunging is less noticeable when you are up around 5k rpm

I have a 2016 IS300 F Sport and I don't notice that lunging you're describing even when switching to Sports Mode while moving. I'll try to pay more attention to that when I drive home later today.

If it's a 350C it's actually a second generation model, so the sport mode in the 350C is different from the 3IS models. It may be more worthwhile for you to ask this question in the 2nd gen IS forum.

on the 350 F sport, when you go from normal to Sport/Sport + it lowers the gear, thats why you feel the lunge. Sport + uses only 7gears and the 8th if needed. It sort of locks out 8th gear so you get more of a umph!!!!!

The IS350C uses the 6 speed transmission.
