Trying to decide between 2 brands of tires and if I'm cheap
Here is my predicament, my lease is up in 11 months.
My IS350 F-Sport needs new tires (and break pads but just getting OEM) they are basically bare at this point, 15,500 Miles on ****ty stock tires.
I have 2 choices:
CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS
~$715 for set of 4 including shipping + install
Pros: Proven tire with thousands of reviews.
Cons: just more expensive then the other
OR
FIRESTONE FIREHAWK INDY 500
~$566 for set of 4 including shipping + install
Pros: Major brand, Cheaper then DWS's.
Cons: Brand new and untested with no reviews.
Again I only have the car for about a year, so not sure what to do here. Be cheap and possibly get a ****ty tire, or just go with the proven tire for a few hundred more.
Thoughts?

Between these two choices, I would go with the Continentals. They're only $149 more and I would pay that in a heartbeat to ensure I had better tires to drive on for the year that you're going to have it.

No deals on those right now, best price I can find is like $990 shipped + installed. So pretty far off from the other 2 options for only having the car for about a year.

I agree , $150 is not much difference if you think about that fact that you could be wasting $566 if the firestones end up sucking.

Ended up ordering the CONTINENTAL
EXTREMECONTACT DWS's because I just noticed one crazy difference. The Firestones came with ZERO warranty.
The Continental's come with 5 years / 50,000 Miles. EZ decision after learning that.

The best brands in my opinion are continental and Mechlin, you couldn't go wrong with any of them. The Mechlin PSS is outrageously overpriced in my country ( 2000 USD), and the only cheap but good tires are the hankook. You could choose better brand than the firestone such as goodyear, hankook, dunlop, bridgestone and Yokohama.

Wish I had seen this thread earlier. I have had both the DWS and the new DWS 06. The DWS tires were great for the snow, never had any problems with dry or wet grip, however I would have warned you that the DWS tires are a bit on the soft side. If you like the comfortable 'cloudlike' ride, then the conti's will suit you well. Another positive of the DWS tires is that they wear very, very well. Almost incredibly well.
I recently put the new DWS 06 on my 3IS, and they were only slightly firmer than the previous DWS, however the tires were still too soft for my taste. It almost felt like the car was floating down the highway. Never had a chance to test them in snow but I am confident that they would not disappoint, just like the previous DWS. I kept them for 600 miles (gave them the 500 mile break in benefit of the doubt) but they were still a bit too soft for my liking.
Now, this obviously comes down to personal preference. Again, the tires never lost traction or anything like that, but I just prefer a more firm ride. I just took off the DWS 06 and replaced them with the new Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3+, and these Michelins gave me exactly what I was hoping for.
If anyone wants to buy the DWS 06 for a steal of a price, PM me. Perhaps I'll post a for sale ad in the classifieds, as I don't know what else to do with them
