Has anyone gone smaller? I'm thinking about going with 18x8 with 225/40/18 all around and I was wondering if it will affect handling/acceleration that much.
Also, what would be the widest you can go on that setup without rubbing?
I have that exact square setup with my winter tires on my AWD IS350. No problems at all. If you have RWD you might not be able to launch as fast, but I don't think you'll have a problem at all.
We did the exact same thing on our 2013 IS350AWD. Worked perfect, and now you can rotate the tires. By the way, the dealership said if I did this, it would tear out the 4 wheel drive unit. 10000 miles later, they were wrong.

it doesn't matter if the tires are staggered. All that matters with a AWD system is that the tires are the same diameter.

My Lexus dealer even told me that some configurations of the IS AWD (250 I believe) had square 225 tires with 18" wheels from factory. It really shouldn't cause any damage if they had that setup from factory. Also they said they've been putting 225 on AWD IS250 and IS350s for years with no issues whatsoever.

Or close enough. The stock staggered setup has a small difference in diameter.

One of the biggest reasons why I want to do it, but I want to know the widest setup I can go without rubbing up front. I think even if I went with 235 all around I should be fine.
Thanks for all the replies, I really appreciate it!

I have a set of 19" Avantgarde rims from my G37 size 19x8.5 et35 for all 4. Can i stick with the tires already on them (225/40/19) or do i need different sized tires?
