AC compressor bearing issue during PDI
i was so excited about my new 2016 IS350 AWD in Obsidian black arriving at the dealer on Nov 17 until my sales person told me that they found an abnormal sound coming from the AC compressor bearing. i have been waiting for this delivery since early Sept. Now i have to wait some more for a new AC compressor to arrive from California by ground as it is against the law to transport AC compressor by air.
just wondering if anyone here experienced a similar issue. just wondering if it is a batch issue or i was just unlucky with my build.

thanks for you thoughts Brendanf. Yes, you are right in that i am lucky the service tech was doing a good thorough inspection. Some dealers would just ignore it and wait for the owners to experience the issue and then bring the car in for inspection.
Well, it is now Dec 22 and still waiting. just recently found out that the condenser has to be from Japan and it cannot be shipped by plane but by boat. who knows how long that will take. my dealership gave me an ETA for the condenser of dec 21 and of course that is a lie. There is no way of tracking. i am starting to feel very angry and thinking of dropping Lexus and buy some other brand. this is ridiculous. The car has been sitting at the Lexus lot since nov 17

Why couldn't they just give you another car on their lot.. Or at least a loaner to drive around while your waiting..

this is crazy, right? they don't have another IS350 fsport in black with red interior on the lot to give me. i think i will ask for a loaner. i was so excited when my car finally arrived. Now, as each day passes by, i am getting more frustrated and angrier.

I definitely agree with brendan. If you haven't had the car at all, I seriously hope they're covering/waiving the monthly payments. See if they can ship another car from another dealership to replace the defective one you received. Completely unacceptable the service they are providing you.
At this rate, you should considering calling off the sale and bringing your business elsewhere. There are many dealers in the BC area who would love your business. If you worked to negotiate something, just take the bill of sale elsewhere and have them match it.
Already asked to get my car from another dealer. No other local dealer has my car and the one that has it in a different city, province (Edmonton, Alberta) does not want to trade with my dealer.
I'd call corporate and complain.. How much money have you put down as a deposit?
so, finally my sales person is able to get me a courtesy car (manager's demo car IS350). not sure if it is the fsport or non fsport package. most likely it is the non fsport package (picking it up tom). In any case, this is a good start to the compensation for the time i have been waiting and the frustrations i have gone through.
Will definitely ask for a reduction in the quoted price as well.
