I noticed that the backup camera on my IS is off centered. The distance shown between my car and the object behind it is fine. The sides are the problem!

When the 2 side lines on the screen suggest that I'm centered, I am actually closer to the left than the right side. I always turn my head when backing up anyway, but noticed this issue from day 1. Anyone else?

 

What year is your IS?

Mine is very accurate. If I use the lines to back in to a spot, and center the car with those lines, it'll be dead on.

 

Mine is a 2015 model, but I've had it for 11 months now.

 

I asked about the year because the '14 had stationary lines and the '15s and on have the dynamic lines, not that it should adversely affect the alignment. I don't know if the dealer can do anything to calibrate it, but you can always ask.

 

Same here since day 1. The lines has to be on curb or over to be perfect. I had scratched my rims before cuz i went too much over the curb. I am gonna ask about this on my first service.

 

The dynamic lines aren't helpful to me. I prefer only the stationary lines. Regardless, the off centered camera is a flaw to an otherwise great car.

 

Relieved to know that I'm not the only person. If no one had the same issue, I'd really doubt myself. Let me know what your dealer says.

 

Mine is '14 IS, and when i backup into a space, the horizontal line does not line up with the space's line exactly and i have to compensate for a little more slant than what i see on camera. I actually had the dealer check it out and they said it checks out with other ISs.

 

Mine is a '15 and mine lines up exactly. I back into spaces all the time and it always always always lines up exactly. I think the dealer is screwing with you.

 

Pre backup camera I used to be able to backup and park straight every time. Using the backup camera I can NEVER get the car straight in the space! LOL

 

I hope they're not screwing with me but wouldn't be surprised if they were, stealerships... If i followed the lines exactly, my car will be slanted to the left.
