My wife's 2015 IS350 F-Sport (only 6,000 miles on the odometer in the year she has owned it) is showing evidence of chipped paint above the decklid reflectors. Our dealer and Lexus corporate are not wanting to play ball and fix the problem. We are convinced that it is caused by a vibration from the reflectors when the car is moving and when the decklid is open and shut. Anyone else having this problem?
I have 20,000 miles and almost 2 years on my car and absolutely nothing like that. What is the circle above the spot in the first pic? Is it a water droplet or missing clear coat? Has the car been washed and waxed properly within this year? Nothing corrosive has been left on the paint (road salt, etc.)? The fact that it is in almost the exact same spot on both sides seems so strange. How is the dealer explaining this away to you?
i actually have this issue on the passenger side wheel well where the skirt meets the wheel well right below the factory protection film. No rust yet, I'll bring it in and have them look at it if it starts rusting. Definitely caused by pieces rubbing.

The chip near the wheel well is not caused by rubbing (unless a rock or gravel got stuck between the rear fender and the rocker panel). See this thread for details: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...heel-arch.html

I don't have any damage there personally.
There is a thread in the RX forums with similar rust damage on the rear tail gate near the light. That OP also guessed it was vibration induced. However, the gap between the light and body on the IS decklid appears to be much wider, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ear-hatch.html

Hello
In the first picture, is that a chip on the light, under the rust spot?
I don't have any issues like that (over 15k miles and a year old). It almost looks like the taillight corner has a chip as well in the first photo? Which would make me think something actually bumped into the decklid and caused the chip (which then rusted). I'm not sure about the other chip though. It's a strange location to be caused by vibration.
