Did I do this? Steering Wheel Leather
My car has about 2000 miles on it. I'm the only one that drives it. Yesterday I noticed this on the steering wheel right at the 10:00 position so you feel it constantly.
My question is, did I do this? I have no idea how this could have happened.
I don't wear any jewelry. My nails are trimmed short as always. The only thing I can think of is my sun visor dragging across the wheel but even that is plastic and cloth.
Is this a defect or is it something I did somehow? Is there any good way to repair it or at least make the leather stay down and be smooth again?

Looks like something inadvertently scraped the steering wheel to me. With the vehicle being so new, you can always cop a plea with the dealership under warranty. You never know until you ask.

Same sort of thing on my previous car. When I get in and out of my car my right hip will sometimes touch the wheel. Sometimes I have a pocket knife on me and it scratched up the wheel.... just a thought.

I have also seen keys, coffee cups, purses, cardboard boxes, umbrellas, and even sun shades leave marks on the relatively soft leather of a steering wheel that very much like the marks you have pictured.

The results will obviously be dependent on the depth of the abrasion, but it will certainly help.

I did this same thing to the bottom of my steering wheel with the seat belt. I took it in to the dealer and they replaced it for free because they said "I was a valued customer".
