So I keep hearing it again and again, lexus ecu is uncrackable.
Question is, why is this? Im sure there are others i dont know about, but why do they do this?
Also why not offer chips as a performance upgrade from the dealership?
Only thing i can think of is reliability issues but why not give us the option like other companies?
surely an extra 20 or 30 hp cant stress the engine that much and they can sell their cars better with the extra power?
Someone educate me plz? Im tired of hearing 'lexus ecu encryption game too strong' and not knowing much beyond that.

I'm sure it can be done but I bet tuning companies are not interested in cracking Lexus ECUs at this time. Lexus/Toyota is well-known for its reliability, not performance. I used to own a BMW, and there were a plethora of aftermarket companies to choose from compared to Lexus.
I wish Toyota would step up their TRD program and be like Dinan (BMW), who offers performance and warranty.

My guess is that there is little perceived interest in this kind of thing from the typical Lexus buyer so the market isn't as large as with other makes/models. Finally (maybe) with the 3IS there will be more interest in ECU mods now that their cars are dramatically sportier.
Also from what I understand, there isn't much to be gained from ECU tweaks on NA engines. Turbo engines, OTH, represent a lot bigger opportunity. With the 200t and future turbo offerings, I'd expect to see more options.
