Upgrading to IS350 F-Sport
Hi all,
I have a 2015 IS250 F-Sport bought from November last year, and I'm thinking about upgrading the car to a 2015 IS350 F-Sport for the bigger engine.... mainly due to the lack of power while carrying 4 people in the car.
Since this is the first time I'm doing this, I need some help on the numbers I should be talking to the dealers.
1. The MSRP for the specific IS350 is $48,659. Will negotiating the sell price down to $43,000 too much?
2. The dealership gave me a trade-in price of $32,000 for my car, but I really think it's worth mureh more (approx. $36,000), since I have the F-Sport package, Nav w/ ML, BSM, and F-Sport exhaust and intake. What's a good trade-in price range for my car?
3. I'm hoping they would just add the extra amount into my current finance term (0.9% for 60 months). Is this possible?
4. Any other suggestion or comments?
Thank you so much guys!!

My best advice here is honestly don't trade in a car a year old.... thats nuts, just for a bigger engine... I mean I wish I could afford the IS350 F Sport, but I got the 250. Yes sometimes I wish the thing would go faster but I'm not a race car driver...
If you are financially secure and have funds to spare... then yes go ahead, you will lose out big time... first, you aren't going from F Sport to F Sport, you're down grading the car overall for a bigger engine.
I'd rather have an F Sport (250) versus a barely loaded 350. In fact looking at the MSRP of your 350, my 250 F is almost 1000$ more.
So if you want to take a loss and are happy and satisfied, go for it. It is possible to get the car down to 43k... but it will require work..... but still possible, you'll need to do your homework and go to multiple Lexus dealerships to fish out the best offer.
As for the value of your car, that is going to be way tougher... car dealerships rape you on trade-ins of newer cars, remember... when you drove it off the lot, it lost 10-20% residual value instantly... tack on what dealerships need to make on it... should be around 30% less than you paid for it.

I wouldn't do it. I did it on my last 2 vehicles and including mods, payments, trade ins, and I calculated how much money i lost and I got sick. I did what you are thinking of with my wife's ford due to them pissing us off over my roush, we only lost 2.3k on trading in a 4 month old car. I lost my bum on my roush.
If you are ok losing what you have paid so far, and basically restart you payments then go for it. In your case that's the only time I noticed the power difference was loaded down and passing\flooring it vs the 2 engines so in the long run it may suit you better. You may be able to squeeze 1.5 more out of them. Then see if they hook you up in the new car with floor mats. Tint etc.
Good luck

i'd been contemplating on trading mine in for the 350 as well, but it's definitely not worth the 10,000$+ you have to put in just for the bigger engine. I'd wait for at least the refresh and ultrasonic blue to reconsider trading it in

Thanks for the feedback guys.
The MSRP is actually for a 350 F-Sport with Nav, ML, and BSM. It's the same build as my 250.
I would never trade-in an F-sport for a regular 350
But good point, thank you all! I'll keep my 250
