'14 IS350 base vs '16 IS200t F-sport
For various reasons, I'm thinking about whether to trade my '14 IS350 base for a '16 IS200t F-sport. (I haven't driven a 200t yet so obviously I need to do that.) In the mean time, any thoughts on what I'll miss, what i'll gain, will I be disappointed? Have heard mixed reviews i'll say on the turbo engine/drivetrain. Thanks in advance on any input.

I'd stick with the 350.

I have a 2016 IS350 F Sport, and I love it! I had a non F Sport 200t as a loaner overnight during my free service, and I have to say that the only perceivable advantage I can see is slightly better fuel economy. As far as driving, it's not naturally aspirated, so the power is not as immediate as the 350, there's less of it, obviously, and the engine (while likely to be reliable, because Lexus) has yet to prove a track record the way the 2GR has; long-term, the 350 should be relatively bulletproof. Put the money towards a more aggressive suspension, and the bumper, and you'll be good to go!

Don't switch if you are looking for more performance. Digital gauges, red leather, black roof liner, pillars, led headlights, styling in the f sport are really nice things to have.

The pursuit of F
Engine.....
I owned the NX200t and was a great ride but the lag was my least favorite part. It's times when you need to make split second passing maneuvers that the 1-2 second delay is a problem. A secondary negative is there's nothing aurally pleasing coming from the 4-banger vs the growl of the V6.
On the plusses, good fuel economy and the smooth turbo rush is fun.

There's almost zero upside. 200T might be ok for someone new, but coming from a 350, highly not recommended. I bought a 350F after test driving the 200T, worlds apart. If you have your mind set on a 4c turbo, go to the ones who perfected them over decades, the Germans. I had a VW GTI 2.0T which was ok, but end of day, was no 6c, and worse of all, the sound was horrible. Even Porsche can't make a 4c sound throaty. 4c will always sound sissy-ish if you're willing to live with that.

^ that. And also dont forget to add the f sport badge on the side fenders of the car, the f sport badge adds about 10hp to it.
