So I picked up a 15' IS250 last week and had a question. I know the eco mode only picks up 1/2mpg but my question was on the dash, theres a globe. I was cruise controlling at 70-75 on the highway this morning and ti was like 4-5 bars but when i was driving 80, it was like 7-8 bars. Um..... whats it exactly mean? How do you get it all the way? I've taken my foot off the gas and it goes to 0. I accelerate lightly and it does go full but only temp. Being that I just got the car, I'm trying to get the best MPG I can. Any help?
thanks, it doesnt make much sense to me. so if you accelerate slowly, it helps with the mpg, i get that. what i dont get is, when i was driving 80, i had more bars than when i was driving 70 or 75.
The more bars present on the "globe" or eco zone display, the less economical you are driving... so, simply put, you want less bars showing, meaning you are driving more economical. The more bars present, the more your acceleration is outside of the zone of economical driving.

ahhh.... why i didnt think of it like that... i figured the more the better. ill just look at the average mpg screen and not worry. thnx for helpng me not be stupid.
No worries, it is kind of counter intuitive at first glance... I think of the bars as carbon emissions, the more bars the more CO2 I'm putting out into the globe... so always looking for the fewest bars when just cruising.

yeah, like i said, when im hitting the gas, it goes up. accelerating burns more gas than anything. still feel stupid lmao
