Default IS350 F sport engine whine

I am hearing some whine engine during acceleration. Is this normal?

Yeah, it's annoying as hell. Makes it feel like you're driving a toy car. After I did a muffler delete it got rid of the sound (or just masked it). Still heard it when I had my JoeZ axleback though.

I know the exact sound you are talking about and yes an aftermarket exhaust helps but does not eliminate the noise.

I think the whine is the valves, I may be wrong. But I no longer hear it with my exhaust

Valves do not whine.

You are most likely hearing gear whine. It is common even on modern transmissions and I've noticed it more on higher hp cars I have owned. I can hear it very mildly on this car. On my v8 S4 (not the supercharged models) it sounded like a quiet supercharger. It was much more pronounced.

When I test drove a 2014 3IS, the whine was very noticeable. The car had more than 10K mi on it at the time. I ended up getting a new 2015 instead. I don't hear the whine as much, or none at all. Not sure if anything was done differently between '14 and '15 in this regard. It may be just me.

I have a 2015 250 F-Sport, and I hear the whine. It's not as noticeable after installing the F-Sport exhaust and intake, but it's still present.

Personally I don't mind the sound... I thought it was pretty cool lol

I hate to say this but it is normal. IMO it is one of the annoying things that 3IS has. I don't think you can get rid of it other than masking it with other noises like loud exhaust, intake etc. And yes it looks like coming from transmission. I think when Lexus designed vehicle by letting some of noise get inside the cabin (to make it sound more sporty) it just inadvertently allowed other undesired noises as well. This is where fake noise channeled via speakers come more advantageous than allowing the real noise get it, if you cannot filter the unwanted noises.

I noticed mine does this, today. It happens more often when it's cold outside though. When it's 70 degrees outside, not a peep.
