be careful getting in and out of the car if you are wearing jeans, specifically ones with these on the front right pocket.

I did one slight nick on my steering wheel once in that general vicinity due to my jeans.
now i'm much more extra careful getting out after that one time.
I believe thats probably whats happening for you as well

fellas, I figured out what's been causing the damage to my steering wheel. so I always carry a knife in my right front pocket and I've been watching how I've been getting in and out of the vehicle,........so its the freaking knife rubbing against the wheel. now I feel like a dumba** and annoyed at myself for causing this damage.
well now that I know what caused it....I gotta figure out how to fix it.

Glad to hear you figured it out.

In the picture you posted, it looks like something definitely scratched it. You can see the "scratch pattern" from the bottom of the wheel to the 3 o'clock position.

Looks great. Do you wear gloves when driving?

I do and I find it saves a lot of hassle including scratches and marring due to rough hands, ring, etc
