I wonder if this will look nice and if anyone have done this yet

Had them on my impreza. They will not look good on the IS.
They look like a bolt on rally application, and will ruin the good modern look of the IS.

Try waiting until something smaller and more discrete shows up on ebay.

 

Have some paint protection film installed on the fenders behind each wheel. Mud flaps (splash guards) will not look good on an IS.

cuz I can take those out and redrill my holes and put the flaps behind the fenders

 

IMO it doesn't look fitting on a Lexus but if it works and that's all you would care about, which is protection, then do it. If you're doing it for looks, no bueno.

 

Exactly! Not only do they not look good but whenever you drill holes in the body of your car you are inviting rust. That's one of the reasons splash guards fell out of favor. In the first post notice that those universal fit splash guards don't even include mounting hardware. They likely don't want to be responsible for what happens when they start to rust.

Take my advice above and have paint protection film installed behind the wheel wells. The cost will be much less than having it installed on the front end. This is the modern way to protect your lower panels.

If someone produced a set of moulded on splash guards that were specifically designed for the IS then the answer would be absolutely yes but it's unlikely you will get universal splash guards to fit properly using the existing fastener locations.

As I've suggest to you above have paint protection film installed on the fenders behind each wheel well. I did this when I had my Porsche 911 which just like the Lexus is another car that is worthy of the extra protection but would look absolutely ridiculous with slash guards.

The reason no one produces a set of mould on splash guards for the Lexus (or the Porsche) is because they have fallen out of favor. Remember the 80's when everyone was driving around with black vinyl bras on the front of their sports cars and louvers over the rear windows? I had these things on my '85 Mazda RX-7 (yes, I'm showing my age ) but I wouldn't dare put them on any car today. In fact, you probably can't even buy these accessories today because very few if anyone would want them. Paint protection film wasn't around in the 80's but thankfully it is today and that is the way to go. If memory serves the Porsche dealer charged me only $150 to have it installed on the fenders. That was about 4 years ago. The price can't be too much different today. Paint protection film can be expensive to have installed on the front end, full hood and roof but having it installed behind the fenders is simple because the amount of film used is relatively small and there's no stretching involved. Look into it.

I wouldn't do it. Won't even put them on my STi. It just looks so tacky.

Wonder if they fit, and how they will look on the new IS. Better than rallyarmor at least.

 

After hearing how soft Lexus paint is, I got paranoid and purchased a pre cut clear bra online for the rear wheel splash right after I got the car. Especially since my neighborhood is in the middle of major construction boom. Now I don't worry about the paint chipping behind the tires.
