New is350 Owner
Hi Everyone-
I purchased a 2014 is350 AWD last week. So far so good with the car. I've been driving STI's and Evo's in the past, so its a bit of an adjustment from a performance perspective, but wanted to try something with a little more luxury.
A few quesitons for you;
1. The staggered setup has been a bit of a pain since I had previous winter/summer tires I was hoping to use. I do have a set of 18x9 +25 Advan wheels. Is there any reason I can't run same wheel size on all 4 corners and just have staggered tire setups?
2. Has anyone figured out a ski rack solution for the new body style yet. I am not willing to put Yakima Q Towers on such a beautiful car, but from my research there is not a Whispbar setup yet?
Appreciate the insight!

I went from a 2011 WRX to the is350 so yeah it's an adjustment, the fun factor is ehhhh, but I did it for reliability (car in shop though, face palm) Somebody was running 245/40/18 on all 4 without issues but can't remember the wheel width.
I'm not really too sure about the roof rack, but I am interested in getting one as well. I'd like to buy a kayak next summer and be able to go to nearby lakes. I saw someone with an IS350 driving by me the other day with a roof rack, but I have no idea what kind it was.
You generally only stagger AWD tires if the wheel is different in size between front and back. You do that to offset the difference and get the front and back in equal rotation as closely as possible. If you're running the same size wheels, you would want to run the same size tires so it's even rotation all around. What that does to rubbing, I do not know.
agreed, don't change the overall size of the tire front to back due to the stagger or the car will definitely complain! anything more than a 1% difference will be noticed. running staggered tires on a AWD car really isn't ideal in the first place.

Exactly. In all my years of driving AWD cars never run into the staggered setup. Just don't get it. How is the staggered in the winter, do you find the backend catching because of the larger tires?
