Hi, I'm a Lexus Master Technician. Did the vehicle make a horrible noise when this happened, or no sound at all?

The reason I ask this is because Lexus engineers do a good job of idiot proofing their vehicles. There are usually overrides installed in the transmission computer that prevent this exact thing from happening. Granted, I would never try this for myself, but I'm hoping it should be fine.

From what i've heard the onboard electronics are pretty good at preventing unwanted damage. i remember reading something i believe on this forum of someone accidentally shifting their car into reverse while driving and nothing happened (except for the rear view camera popping up on the nav screen.)

If you didn't hear a loud clunk coming from the transmission which would be your transmission destroying the pin that holds it in park, Or if your drive wheels didn't lock up which would've meant your transmission successfully went into park without breaking anything then the electronics did their job and didn't change gears.

I am glad you chimed in. I also am confident that the car is pretty idiot proof, but I am not about to try it to find out.

Honestly, as long as the vehicle isn't making a horrible noise, and all dash lights are off, I wouldn't worry about it.
