Default Tire Sidewall Damage

Hi guys!

So two days ago a friend of mine drove my IS250 F-Sport (first mistake, I know) in the morning and during the ride he pulls a very sudden and fast u-turn. I made nothing of it however after we parked the car, did whatever we needed to do, and came back to the car, one of the tires was leaking air.

I filled up the tire and thought nothing of it and drove back to my friend's house. Later that night I started my car up and, again, same problem: low air pressure in the same tire.

I took it to a tire shop and they told me that the tire needed to be replaced because damage was done to the tire sidewall. Do you guys know how that actually happens? Am I crazy to think that the speedy u-turn my friend made is the cause of this problem?

Side note: The car was fine before he drove in the morning and the puncture was there right after we came back to where he parked.

I'll be a little nicer, what did you hit? The risk of sidewall damage goes up as the tire profile goes down, that's why there is a tire damage warning for tires less than 40 series profile. If you damaged the sidewall from impact, you probably damaged the rim too. Is it leaking from a hole in the tire or at the edge of the rim?

Tires don't damage themselves from a sharp u turn.

If there's no bend or marks on the rim it's only a few things it could be....broken belt or separated tread warping the sidewall....picked up a nail.....broken valve stem or just the tire coming unseated....All could Cause pull and or air loss

maybe the bead got damaged during the hard U turn and it couldnt hold air anymore. Time to charge your friend. I could be just the bead became unseated and the tire just needed to be reinstalled and rebalanced. Bro had a leaky tire once where the tire shop saw it leaking between the bead and wheel. They just reinstalled and rebalanced the tire and it was fixed.
