Finally! ship underway!
for those expecting cars in the western states region I have finally found the info we have been waiting for. the vessel name is the Kentucky Highway. its current location is just off the coast of japan and it's ETA is 11/5/2013 at about 4AM Portland local time.
my information said that it was supposed to hit port on the 8th and this may just mean the time it will take to unload and pass through customs.
here is a pic I put on google earth. the yellow pin to the left is where the manufacturing plant is, and the pin to the right is the ships location as of 11:30 today oct 24th

to get a better visual of how far that is from Portland here is a picture of the earth with the 2 yellow marks on the left and Portland on the right in Orange, you have to look very close to see them!
from japan to Portland is about 4,800 miles. based on the ships location now and the average speed of 13 knots I have calculate the arrival time works out pretty close! that's good news!
if any of you have your car on this boat stay tuned to this thread. ill update periodically as it gets closer.

I thought these pictures of Portland Or. might be interesting..
I give you guys 3 guesses as to what your looking at here!
this looks like a staging area where they unload the cars off the ships where they head out via rail.
amazing when you look at how many cars there are in just 1 location. hard to imagine they all fit on a boat!

Congrats! I was in the same boat a couple weeks ago waiting for my car to arrive. My car was initially scheduled to arrive on the 8th at the port as well but ended arriving on the 12th with a small delay, not too bad... It took a little over a week to get to the dealership and I swear that was the longest week ever!
but once it was here and I got to see it, it was AWESOME!! Good luck and enjoy

it looks like the ship is out of range but you can still get GPS coordinates every 6-12 hours.
i found out that if you use google earth and input the coordinates you can get a rough location.
here is the latest.

i guess we just waited in suspense! lol being self employed has advantages, and sometimes i have too much free time on my hands..
what really amazes me about technology is just how vast the information is available to us online.
you have to admit google earth is down right scary amount of detail. from all those miles away in space to be able to locate a spot on earth and zoom in with enough detail to make out the model of a car. i cant tell what model those are, but i can make out my own vehicles at my house.
the military on the other hand has the ability to zoom in with enough clarity to see a license plate. they could tell you if it was mounted with phillips or flat head screws! and they can do it in real time.
i use google earth a lot in my business. often times i need to see what the roof material is mad from on a house. usually the photography is somewhat recent and the clarity gets better with time ad cameras get better and computers get more storage.
but also i can get a street level view because pretty much all of the US has been driven and mapped by GPS equipped data vehicles that carry 360 degree cameras through just about every neighborhood.
they even take the time to blank out license plates and peoples faces.
and to be able to track the location of anything on the planet with a handful of numbers is pretty cool.

i have a new update, seems i get a new location about 1 time every 12-24 hours. i am dropping pins on google earth because the website shows the vessel out of range. my guess is somehow they check in periodically and report their location manually.
here is the latest as of 10-25, its already 10-26 at the location of the vessel
i have replaced the old pic with a new one, looks like the ship made some good progress today! there is a storm brewing that i was worried might slow the ship down but it seems to be making good progress..

Congrats I know how it stinks to have to wait. I'm in southeast toyota region which really $ucks. I had to order my IS350 2011 model because I wanted parking sensors option. Which apparently is never purchased in this region unless someone actually orders it with deposit? I ordered in Sept. 2010 got the car jan. 21, 2011. Worth the wait!
This is awesome, I believe my car is also on this ship. Dealer gave me an Oct. 24 ship date and November 6 arrival in Portland, then another week or 2 to get to Wisconsin.
Great info, can't wait to get my car - I ordered in mid-August.
