Finally! ship underway!
GOOD NEWS! after several days of no news I finally got an update!
the boat is now about 1800 miles from Portland that still puts it on schedule for the 5th, I also included some weather data on the map, looks like the sky's are clear over the ship so it should be pretty smooth sailing!

great news! it seems our little boat is making some really good progress!
surprised to find out that the boat as of now 10:30 PM MST on friday the 1st of nov has 1238 miles to go to reach portland. a rough guess is about 1100 or so miles to the coast line.
the other good news is the last 2 positions are reporting it's been doing about 17 knots!
i think a few days back it was under some pretty stiff headwinds. it may have been slowed down some. perhaps they have a tail wind now? according to that math it's exactly 3 days from portland. at that rate it may get there a day early!
however i wonder if there are speed restrictions and or current flowing the opposite way on its trip up the river to portland that may slow it's final 100 or so miles into port.
i am confident that by sunday or monday it will again be in range and you'll be able to track it's position live.
anyway i took a big picture for you all, you may have to blow it up full screen. this shows the most recent positions i have.

another update,
as of midnight roughly mountain time the ship was positioned at this new location.
at the time this was recorded the ship was 963 nautical miles from the coast of Oregon.
i also measured and it is about 100 miles up river before it reaches the port.
its last speed was 16.9 knots at that rate its traveling about 400 miles every 24 hours.
that means as of midnight tonight it should be 563 miles from the shore. by midnight on sunday night it should be 163 miles from shore.
that leaves roughly 263 miles to go to get to the actual port. that should take just over 12 more hours to reach.
that puts it there about noon on monday which is the 4th
now if we account for the fact it may not be able to do 17 knots up river it puts it there at the end of the day on monday. so it may still yet be a little early, or you might say there is room to spare for an on time arrival.

hey! when your waiting 3 months to get your car at least it gives me something to do rather than **** and moan about when is it going to get here?
well keeping track of things makes the wait a little easier to me. so i guess its good therapy!
besides, my wife could care less, and i have no one to share my findings with at least someone tho might give a rip!

so to do this you get the lattitude and longitude from the maritime site then plug the coordinates into Google Earth?
I'm interested in doing this too. My car left Japan Wednesday and my salesmen is going to get me the ship name...
yes but ive had to find a round about way to track when they are out of range. if you get me the vessel name ill show you how.
HOUSTON we have a problem!
so i have been tracing this boat and i got a new location. it's pretty clear this boat is on course to head straight past portland!
the destination is USBNC i did not bother to look that up until now and this boat is headed to port of Benicia wherever the heck that is, the web says it's in LA!
i need to check with my dealership on monday and find out what the deal is. i hope i have not been tracking the wrong boat all this time!
if the ship goes to LA i would guess that a shorter rail trip to colorado than from portland.
this explains why the ship looks like it's been ahead of schedule.
probably right on time to Los Angeles.
well tomorrow the dealer is closed hopefully ill get some more info monday morning..
here is an updated pic

i got up this morning to check on this again.
the boat is definitely headed to Port of Benicia which is right near san francisco.
using google earth i found the dock, the staging parking lot, the rail transport loading area as well as the truck transporter area.
so at this point it's either going by truck or by rail.
I am very curious to see if my dealer knows anything. seems like there are a lot less places for a train to stop between san fran and colorado. lots of mountains and a lot of desert to cover.
from portland you have several cities to pass through, any of which could be a stop and another delay..
1 thing is for sure, this port is WAY smaller than portland. so heres my logic. if they are headed to a smaller port, i think there are less destinations from that port, less traffic this means perhaps there is a rail that goes pretty much directly across the US from there to colorado and possibly a little farther.
i think a larger port is going to have a lot more destinations going in and out from it.

i talked to my sales guy via text this morning. (sunday) and he tells me it is not uncommon for vessels to make more then 1 stop at different ports.
what i don't get is why portland was last on the list when they sailed right past it on the way to san fran.
anyway this make some sense now, i was told the boat would be in on the 8th to portland, and i suppose that is still entirely possible after it drops some cars in Benicia.
it's 600 miles away from that location as of sometime today. i didn't look up the time because it really doesn't matter i do not think my car will be unloaded here anyway.
here is the latest info i have now

so the kentucky highway has been docked in Benicia since this morning about 6am
i notice there were now 30 photos of the ship where as yesterday only 29
and i found a new one dated today with the comments "moving cars"
i assume the boat will depart soon to make it's way to Portland.
until that happens there is not much to report. so i am posting a current picture of the boat docked in Benicia taken today.
enjoy!
