My bosses S550 will burn your clothes right off you. It's funny how you have to turn them down after a few mins. One thing that's really nice is the heated steering wheel. Wish it would just stay on 24/7

I have the RX 350 2017 with only 3k miles and already brought it back to the dealer since my seats were not warm enough. You can’t even feel that they are on at all. I even had passengers in my car and put their seat warmers on to see if they can feel the heat and they cannot. Dealer also said they were within specs. I called Lexus to complain and they documented but I’m sure they will do nothing. My first Lexus IS a huge disappointment. All I wanted was heated seats when looking for a new car and sad to know I would have been happier in a Ford. Is there anything we can do? This is obviously a known issue.

Well i did some testing with a infrared thermometer and my lexus is parked in my climate control garage. It shows 62'F on a cold seat, with the heated seat on high setting until it drop down to the second setting which is about 15mins the seat are 79'F. I did the same test but this time with me sitting down on the seat and then got up and it is 89'F. Next i turn the heat on to 71'F and fan on speed 3 which is what i have most of the time, with also the heat seat setting on highest waited about 15mins for it to drop to the second setting, then tested the seats to be at 86'F. Same test but with me sitting on the seats again and test came back to 92'F.
Does this seem to be right? I lay my hands down on a cold seat to feel the temp and then feel it again with the heated seats on high for about 15mins and i can barely tell the difference.

I did a test on my audi which is my daily and parked outside. It has 6 setting from 6 being the hottest, i usually have it on 5 then back to 4 and then 3. Cold seat are 53'F, heated seat on 5th setting for about 15min 93'F
with me on it tested to be at 102'F

Interesting how nobody has done any reverse-engineering on the seats to determine the difference -- materials, stuffing, power, heater components, etc. Clearly Lexus knew about it because they fixed the problem, so there is a solution. It's certainly not a matter of completely re-engineering the seats, so there should be something that can be done short of full re-and-re.

When did they fix it? I have an '18 and they certainly do not get hot.

From testimonials here, it's primarily in the first year of the model. If subsequent, I would imagine it would be a warranty issue.

They made them better compared to the 14s but they are still far from effective 4 years later. It's not a warranty issue since the temperature is within Lexus specs.

There's clearly a wider aspect than just personal experience in this. I can barely feel mine even on the top setting and it's debatable whether the seats warm me more than I warm them, whereas other people say they get plenty warm and have to turn them down. I test-drove a 2016 and it was comparable to my BMW Z4, which became uncomfortable if maintained at the higher settings.

I guess so. Mine are the weakest of any car I've owned. They are passable on the highest setting and basically not there on the lowest settings. Again mine is a 2018. The steering wheel is fine although still not as warm as most other cars I've owned.
