What idiot makes hard accelerations with a cold engine?!
The warm up procedure goes faster if you drive instead of idling.

Sadly, it happens all the time. I live above a major street with street parking and I hear people start their cars in the middle of the cold night and immediately gun the engine to redline as they merge into lanes. I just cringe everytime I hear it. The average young, intoxicated college kid leaving a party could care less about warming up an engine (let alone other things). That's just one example. The other 75% of society doesn't read their owner's manual, so it's happening there too. It's all good fodder to never buy a used car.

If you drive intoxicated, pushing a cold engine is the least of your problems.
