has anyone else noticed their 2IS having a higher rpm in cold weather than usual? Around where I'm from the mornings get around 35 - 37 degrees and I see my RPM guage at about 1000 when im sitting at stop light. This only happens when the outside temp is about 37 degrees. If I drive to work and let my car sit for about 10 hours and start it up it doesn;t have the high rpm when i sit at a stop light going home. anyone else have this issue? my car is an 08 is350
If the car hasn't fully warmed up, then yes its normal because the car is trying to get up to normal operating temperature (this goes for all cars as well, not only ISx50s).
Mine has always does it too. Takes a lot longer to warm up than any car I've ever had.
As the poster above me said, all cars rev higher at cold starts.
Absolutely normal. Most cars these days do this to get warmed up faster. This higher idle will usually take place until the car gets somewhere near the 1/4 mark on the heat gauge. By this time the thermostat is completely open, and the car will adjust the idle back down to the normal 700-800 rpm range.

Yes, normal. Every car does this BUT with the IS you must hold the brakes harder or the car will roll forward. Mine can easily reach 5 to 10mph without stepping on the gas pedal

thats what i noticed the other morning. I let go of the brakes and the car just takes off without stepping on the gas.
In NJ its been like 10 degrees and I've noticed my rpms jumping around a lot when its in low gear. These cars take a long time to warm up compared to others but it seems like until its almost at the center mark the rpms are jumpy. This happens esp when I'm slowing down at low speeds.
I start it for about 30 seconds before driving off. I like to warm it up through easy driving
I always let my car warm up until the rpm odometer goes to 1 or below. Another way is to look at the heat gauge. If you see it move over the first line, your car is good to drive without worrying about unusual rpm
I hadn't noticed this until it got really cd down here in Alabama. Car stays in the garage every night. Now that the temps have dropped I notice it when I start it up after work since it has been sitting out in the cold all day. After a warmup, it returns to normal. As others have stated, this car warms up very slowly.
