2014 IS: G force Artificial Intelligence (G-AI) & Dynamic Rev Match
A smarter automatic transmission. Hold gears longer around turns and downshift with dynamic rev matching. A feature first found on the 2013 Lexus GS & 2013 Scion FR-S.
G force Artificial Intelligence (G-AI)
"The 2014 IS is the first Lexus transmission to adopt G-AI control in SPORT mode. What is G-AI exactly? This system maintains the current gear through a corner, preventing a shift that would upset the balance of the car through the corner. Nice."

Full artcile:
01/24/2013—With the final, 500th LFA rolling off the line in December, more than a decade of Lexus supercar development reaches its conclusion. Happily, though, the Lexus supercar lives on, as its advanced design sensibilities are gracing the next Lexus models that will end up in your driveway.
Case in point: the redesigned Lexus IS, unveiled this week at the Detroit auto show. The vehicle’s cockpit design is inspired by the LFA. So is the LFA-style TFT meter and the Split 5-spoke configuration in the vehicle’s 18-inch F SPORT wheels from the available F SPORT package.
The IS 250 and IS 350 will be available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-weather drive versions. The model gains the Lexus Drive Mode Select system for various driving styles. Plus it’s been redesigned inside and out with a new body, larger wheel arches, and more rear-seat space.

Electrostatic switches: Another Lexus-first, electrostatic switches have been introduced in the IS for the climate control system. They allow vehicle occupants to adjust temperature settings with a simple touch or slide of a finger.
HD Radio technology: All IS models are equipped with the next generation Lexus display screen or Remote Touch-controlled Navigation multimedia systems. Both systems provide industry-first complimentary real-time traffic and weather information delivered without a subscription through HD™ Radio Technology.
Sport Direct Shift (SPDS): The IS 350 RWD model features the eight-speed, Sport Direct Shift (SPDS) automatic transmission from the IS F high performance sedan with quicker shifts, full torque converter lockup, and throttle blip downshifts in Sport/Manual mode.
Laser screw welding: Laser screw welding and adhesive body bonding techniques, along with additional spot welding, have increased overall body rigidity for the IS. This enhances stability, improves steering response, and improves handling agility.
Overall, IS Chief Engineer Junichi Furuyama says that his team worked painstakingly to create “an entertaining driving experience”—definitely something to look forward to when the vehicles arrive for test-drives this summer.

If you've driven the 4th gen GS, that will probably be close to how the new 3rd gen IS handles.

I'm sure we'll get a V8 F version down the line. I do agree we need the 300h here in the states as an option.
