Default LFA style gauge or not?

Lexus touted the LFA style gauge, and the Autoguide prototype review video from youtube shows the gauge on the car. The official pictures of the 2014 IS on the Lexus website, however, show standard gauges. What's going on?

As an aside, I took a trip last weekend to Detroit for the auto show but the 2014 IS was on a pedestal and there was no way to see inside to see what gauges were in it.

I think I may have resolved it - looks like the LFA gauge made it to production but only on the F-Sport.

F Sport only. Theres some silly things going on like that. 8 speed AT only on the 350. But you can get the F sport with AWD now.

The LCD gauge is cool. But how long will it last? What happens if it fails or have dead pixel like the NAV screen. That would be expensive to repair...

We'll have to ask LFA owners how long their gauges last.

Come on, this is Lexus. They're not like the Germans. Lexus builds cool looking gadgets AND they build them to last.

I had owned a MB C350 when they first came out in late 2007 and I honestly had issues with simple things like rear taillight bulbs and headlight bulbs which under warranty was fixed. I'd hate to own a German car out of warranty thus why I traded that in a few months before my warranty expired.

I cant even imagine a German car having something like the LFA guages for the simple fear of having to fix this within a few years

Do you have any dead pixels on your navigation systems? No. So why should you worry about this? You shouldn't.

If anything TFT LCD should last longer than LED. Some 2IS cluster needles burned out after a few years.

well, it's good to be optimistic. It's just a thought since I have read few posts about people having problems with current led gauge fading and the NAV screen problem. I'm also curious about the response of the lcd gauge in cold weather. I know how the NAV screen on my last IS worked when it was -10c or colder outside. It was painfully slow before the car warms up.

Optimistic? More like realistic. Optimistic is hoping in the face of little evidence. Our expectations of the LFA-style gauge reliability is based on past records.

Its the same type of gauge but not same gauge. Of course I hope the gauge is fine and will last the life time of the car. But if it doesn't, it will be an expensive repair. And lets see how it works in the cold winter.

It's for real, and from what i've heard around the show during the debut, it will only be available on IS 350 F SPORT and the standard analog for IS 250 F SPORT on US-spec models.
