Hey, I’ve owned 2 is250s before but they were a 2009 and a 2012 I recently just got a base 2014 is250 and wondering how do I turn off the auto upshifts in manual mode? I know I’m kinda saying how do I beat on my car but I love banging off the limiter here and then. the auto up shifts are just not my thing. Anyone can help? I have tc all the way off, done the pedal dance. and I don’t get anything different. Really want to bang the limiter. Thank you guys

 

I don't think you can in a 2014. I had a 2014 IS350 F-Sport and it would always auto upshift even in manual. I think it changed in later years.

 

You need to turn traction control off 1st and then you can do it.

At a stop, hold the traction control button for about 10 seconds until you get the dash warnings, put it in Sport+ with manual shifting and there you go

 

I do seem to recall the 2014 model year was different, at least for some people. We've had similar threads like this one before, where the OP swears they have TC off but still is unable to hit rev limiter without an up-shift.

 

From what I understand the 3IS will engage the limiter regardless of manual mode, sport mode, auto mode, whatever mode. Obviously this is in place as a preventative measure to prevent engine damage etc. So unless you have a tune, I do not think it can be done. If the 2014 itself specifically is different, than I stand corrected.

 

I believe OP is asking how they can avoid automatically up-shifting at redline.
