Default DIY maintence?

Hey all, so I recently got a 2019 IS350 Fsport AWD, and its out of manufacturer's warranty obviously. I was just wondering realistically how much stuff maintenance wise you can do on your own, and what stuff you need to go to Lexus for. (i know you can't do tires on your own, I'm talking specifically about stuff that needs to be done every 10k miles or so.)

(I just did my first oil change on it last night, everything went fairly smooth )

Most of the 10/15/30k mile stuff most people should be able to do themselves. Oil and filter change, tire rotation, air filter, cabin filter, etc.

Gotcha okay, I was just wondering because I've heard a lot of people say stuff like "its a luxury car you should take it to a lexus service center because they know what they're doing". but in my head i'm thinking most stuff isn't much different than a normal car. stuff like transmission service i would definitely take it there

Since Lexus is mostly lipstick on a Toyota, you may find service and parts at a Toyota dealer priced less for the same thing, if you really want a dealer to do it (so I’ve read, as I haven’t used either for my car).

If you can change engine oil, you can change transmission fluid. And who’s going to take better care of it and do the job right, a guy who will never see the car again, or the guy who owns it? It’s not even close. Some dealers won’t touch transmissions anyway, they don’t have enough skill and don’t want the risk. If you have somebody good, that’s great. But don’t assume - check them out.

You are lucky you have the awd - it has the better-mated, more robust A760 transmission. It’s uber-reliable and easy to service. The rwd model’s transmission is not as good.

thank you! i got it with 89k miles

there are maintenance records but they only go up to 45k miles i believe. after that the owner before me did all the oil changes and maintenance himself (every 5k miles). normally i would be skeptical but i just changed the oil a couple of days ago and it still looked like some good oil.
