Hi all,

So i recently bought a 2015 is250 from Auction. Car had 158k km on the clock. Been using it for 3 weeks. During the 1st week the battery died & got it replaced. Everything was going smooth until yesterday when i reached back home after a drive, I tried to reverse park the car & then my steering got locked & an error popped up on my dashboard - “Voltage Abnormality. Steering wheel harder to turn”.


I tried to switch off the car & start it back on, The dashboard turns on & shows “Ignition on” but the engine won’t turn on & gives a cranking sound.

Today i tried to start the engine again & it turned on. Waited for a few mins & then put the car on reverse & again same issue happened. CEL came on & error “Voltage Abnormality. Steering wheel harder to turn”. The steering got locked & couldn’t move the car. Tried to restart the car but engine won’t turn on & the same cranking issue.

Any idea what this issue might be?

 

It sounds like you may be having either a battery or alternator issue. The power steering will get disabled if the battery voltage goes below a certain threshold. Can you pull the codes for the CEL?

 

I've had this exact problem! And now I'm getting no electric signal or response whatsoever!

Did you ever fet it figured out?!

 

This seems definitely an alternator problem had a similar message in my dads RX & the steering was super hard to turn. best to bring it into a mechanic vs parts cannon.
