Recently had my airbag light come on on the dash with code B1861, had the service bulletin L-SB-0007-19 repair done to the wiring but light still persists and throws the same code.
Everything I'm reading points to the full dash wiring harness needing to be replaced, so I'm wondering if anyone's had any experience with this and getting it fixed without going that route? My independent shop recommends replacing the airbag ECU first, then if that's doesn't fix it replacing the airbag itself but that's pretty costly too.
Have you checked if the connector actually touches the terminals on the Airbag? Here is a thread on how to de-pin a connector, you can try experimenting with your old connector to see if you can get the terminals out, and then use them to check if the terminals themselves make a solid contact with the pins on the airbag, and if not, you can always bend the springs in the connector just a little.
With that, as a little disclaimer, any Airbag fault disables the entire system, so I would strongly advise visiting a local dealership for a proper repair, they are just as interested in sorting this issue as you are, so they may even do it for free.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
Hi thanks for the info! The repair was done at the independent shop I've been taking it to, and the work has been checked and double checked there.
I've not touched anything myself, anything airbag related I'd rather leave to an expert so just hoping someone had some similar work done and could tell me if it did or didn't fix the issue.
I'm worried about having to go through a bunch of expensive fixes only to find out the wiring harness was the culprit all along and I've needlessly spent thousands.

Considering a severity of the issue, and the fact that Lexus themselves admitted to it being a fault on their part, I would reiterate my last thought and would suggest to visit the closest Lexus dealership. If worst comes to worst, they won't charge you for any repairs before quoting you, and you will always have a chance to turn away if they will ask something unreasonable, but again, I would think that Lexus would be even more interested in getting it sorted out.

Yeah I feel you. I had originally called them and they were kinda ****ty on the phone and wanted $200 for the diagnosis which put me off. I'll try again and see what they say. Thanks again for the info.
Be aware that the coverage description in the TSIB (L-SB-0007-19) that you had done makes me think you could be responsible for the cost of the repair.
APPLICABLE WARRANTY
This repair is covered under the Lexus Restraint System Warranty. This warranty is in effect
for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.

Yep, it seems to be what everyone else is saying too in other threads. Maybe I can appeal to someone's better nature at Lexus to help me out. They had already performed the TSIB back in 2017 at the dealership but when I called they only had a warranty on that of 2 years
