Change Timing Chain??
Ive read the timing chain never needs to be changed, but on a hi mileage engine should it be considered?? Change the chain, tensioner, guides etc?? My car has 244K miles.
At that high of mileage, IF the timing chain (and related components) are not rattling during cold engine starts......the money would be better spent on having the lifter buckets shims installed to reduce any potential lifter tap noise.
Timing chain assemblies on these engines are very durable and will typically last the life of the engine.

As for the chains, they are not known to hard fail, so now we turn to the VVTi, which is happy to make up for some chain wear. I mean, chains really don't stretch, they wear at the pins and get longer, but it is not from stretching.
Before VVTi, chain wear would allow the timing to retard and loose torque and HP. All of that said, don't worry about it.
