Default Another P0456 Thread

yet another P0456 thread: Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Small Leak Detected on my 2007 is250 with 220k!

i did replace the gas cap with OEM and the code still returned. my question is why the code would turn on first thing in the morning?
freeze frame data shows the code triggering with 0RPM and no engine load but throttle position would not be 0%...odd! perhaps this could point to something more apparent than a cracked hose?

i have yet to inspect the EVAP line in the engine bay. i suspect there is a crack or loose vac line or bad solenoid but also wanted to engage the forums here first for further insight!

It could be that the purge line from solenoid to body hard line could be loose. Most likely happening when taking out the intake pipe. Since the line is clamped under the pipe. Also readjust the clamps on the lines to get better clamp force. If you can rotate the lines by hand. It's a greater chance of a leak happening.

checked over the weekend and the line from the solenoid to the intake manifold is a bit loose that i could twist them so i added zipties to clamp it down further (there was no clamps there to begin with). not sure if that would fix it so i cleared the code. we'll see after a few heat cycles...
the line from the solenoid to the body hardline seemed ok but if the code comes back i will have to do a smoke test next to fully confirm (hope the leak isn't further down in the car).

where is the charcoal canister?

note: the lines were rock hard and not at all pliable anymore but they are not cracked.

just wanted to update. the CEL came back so i did a smoke test and could not find anything definitive.
i checked the charcoal canister which is under the rear cover between the mufflers and all looks well. i squeezed the purge lines and they were still malleable vs the rock hard line to the VSV solenoid - so i decided to get a new soft line anyway.

removal of the old line revealed a long crack under the clamp!
not my pic as mine was on the UNDERSIDE so it was not easily seen. i did the smoke test from that position so no wonder i didn't see anything on the other end.

the code upgraded to P0441 - EVAP purge flow fault and P0455 - large leak, from just P0456 - small leak from earlier. i cleared the CEL after the line was replaced with OE and has not returned!

part replaced:
Part No.: 23827-31100
HOSE, FUEL VAPOR FEED, NO. 2
