Default Code p0400

My check engine light came on the other day. I use my code reader and p0400 pop up which is a evap leak. Has anyone had this problem and what are usual fixes for this code ?

What is your year and model? P0400 is a generic EGR code which the GS300 and I'm pretty sure 400/430 don't have. Are you sure it wasn't P0440 or 442? Some numbers after the 04? Those would be EVAP. Either way, it's probably sensing a leak in the fuel tank/canister and lines system which you will likely need to pay a shop to diagnose. But check your gas cap for a good fit and no cracks or a flat rubber seal. Replace if the cap is bad and clear the code and see if it comes back.

I have a 01 gs300 . Yes the code was p0440 i made a mistake. I will replace gas cap and clear code and see if that fixes the check engine light before I take it to be diagnose. Thanks for the information
