My 06 IS has been acting up lately with a CHECK VSC Xmas light. I was able to clear it using a VSC erase Tool (OBD Terminal with specific terminals shorted) that we use for the our SC's. Shortly after it was erased, it came back. Leading me to believe this is a different issue compared to what we see on the SCs.
Need your suggestion and recommendation on how to tackle this issue. Needless to say my CEL - Check Engine Light is on due to this fault.
No Mandyfig, you have it backwards. The Check VSC is on because of the check engine light. (The computer turns off stability control on this car whenever the CEL is on, causing the Check VSC, skid light, and sometimes a C1201 code, all of which can be ignored because they'll go away when you fix the primary problem) As people told you in your other thread, you need to get your codes read FIRST. Just stop by an Auto Zone; they'll do it for free.
Don't erase the code. Publish it here after you look it up and see what it means.
PS - som code readers can only read engine codes. i.e. some can't read body computer or drive train codes. So if your hardware reads nothing, take it to an auto parts store and get the code read.
In my particular case, I had the same symptoms when an ABS / speed sensor was defective.
The code told me which one was problematic and I swapped it for a new one.
But in your case, without the error code, it's like shooting in the dark.

+1. Reallllllly need that code for us to help you out here. Since it's coming back, like I mentioned in the other thread, it could be something as simple as a bad gas cap gasket.
