Manual to Auto

Hi guys, few months ago my little brother totaled my lexus IS250 automatic.

I bought the car from my insurance for a good price, hoping to swap the engine into another car.

I recently came across a manual IS250, with some electrical problems, the question is, is it possible to transfer the transmission and engine from my old automatic Lexus to the manual Lexus?

Please advise, can I just transfer the engine and keep it manual, or would it be easier to transfer both engine and transmission?

and how difficult of a process would it be?

Anything is possible. That said, the easy smart solution is to drop your engine in that car and be done.

That said, I would highly advise sorting out the electrical gremlins before tearing it all apart.

People install 3GR's in place of 4GR. And even 2GR in place of 4GR. In most cases a manual trans 2IS could hold better value than a converted one. Please scan the build and performance threads...

 

transfer the engine alone and keep it manual, but yes find out what electrical gremlins are first before embarking on the swap.

it's straightforward as any engine replacement is, if you know what you're doing!

 

If you want to sell all the manual components (driveshaft, pedal assembly, transmissions, interior center console, tcm, lines, master/slave cylinder, lines, etc.) , I have cash in hand and will buy them from you.
