Question Do your doors trap water until opened?

As the title asks, after a good rainfall, the two front doors trap a bit of water and then dribble once open. Does your IS do this??

I could tear out the flaps but that keeps debris out too. Likely not much and I have no intention of driving through flood water. I'd hate to see the door rust out...

Yes, I've cleaned the drip vents...

Just curious if others notice this....

Yup the same here, after the rainfall or drive thru car wash I just open all 4 doors and let the water escape.
After heavy rainfall sometimes the driver seatbelt gets little damp, but it dries out in short period of time.

I haven't really noticed. I can say no water gets inside the car while the doors are closed

I would have to say no, my '06 IS350 does not do that.

I would say no as well, but I did have a 2011 Golf that did trap water.

Like Gville350, I don't have this issue on my '06 either.

Technically it's not in the cabin but in the door.

With the no votes, I wonder if they changed the drain flapper and fixed it so well it no longer works?

Thanks everyone!

Roll the window down about an inch. Open the door. Use a garden hose to spray water down the outside of the glass. Did it immediately start "pissing" out the bottom of the door or did it just drip a little? In my case there was debris at the bottom of the door that clogged the drain holes and the same problem I had with my Nissan Titan as I did with my IS250. In both cases I found years of tiny debris built up at the bottom of the door preventing water from simply running out.

I see what they did. The F-Sport side skirts rubber molding aligns perfectly with the doors drains and block the drain until the door is opened.

So, as long as the seal remains flexible, it blocks the drains... Who thought this was a good idea?

Well, that answers why water doesn't collect in my doors

Yours doesn't have any secondary seal? Even on the door?

I didn't look that close, but I actually don't see any drainage holes. They may be under the rubber cover. They are probably hidden. They must be there because no water collects in my doors
