Default Water in front doors?

It was raining all day yesterday. But when I left work, the rain just stopped. Opened the front driver side door, I heard the water sound, just like I shaked a half full bucket. Could not believe it, I closed the door and opened it again and heard the sound again. Then I saw the water pouring out from the bottom edge of the door. The front passenger side door was the same, but the two rear doors did not have water in them. Is that normal?

NOT normal. Their should be a small hole in the bottom of the door I would think to allow water to drain.

It is strange that you are getting so much water inside both front doors. I look at my RX doors and do not understand how that much water can get in!

I would get it to the dealer, there is a fair amount of electronics in these doors and water can not be good.

Nope, not normal at all. As mentioned, take it to the dealer while the water is still there, hopefully that will make it easier for them to diagnose the problem.

There could be an issue with the lower rubber window seal. But both front doors exhibiting this behavior is odd.

Did you get your front windows tinted recently? The reason I ask is because I had the same problem on my lexus 17 years ago. My ES300 was tinted at the dealership and the guy pushed the front window seal out of place and causing spacing in the windows.

No. But they did try to fix rattle problem on driver door. Maybe they also tried passenger door? I will ask my dealer.

Does the rubber look normal at the window. There would have to be a good size gap somewhere to allow that much water in.

No matter how the water is getting in, it should still drain out at the bottom of the doors. The OP said he saw the water draining out after he opened and closed the door, so perhaps there is something blocking the drains and it get dislodged when "jostling" the doors?

I have a feeling that running boards blocked the drains.

How would the running boards stop the water from draining?

Well shoot! I hope that’s not the problem. I just installed them, and we do get a lot of rain.

Check the door jamb weather strippings as well.

I can't tell if the rubber is good or not. And I don't want to figure out where the drain holes are and if they are blocked or not. It is freezing outside. So I will let the dealer check that next week.

BTW, last time when I did 5k mile service, I called and made the appointment. Today I wanted to use the high tech way so I submitted my request on their web site. It has been 4 hours and I have not heard anything from them.
