Default Passenger Mirror won't roll down when reversing

Per the title, the passenger side mirror won't roll down when I reverse. I can tilt it freely in all directions via the driver side controls, but the mirror won't budge when I put the car in reverse. The driver side mirror does it just fine but the passenger side doesn't. I disconnected the battery recently as I had to install a new alternator, is there some sort of initialization process I need to go through or is there another issue at play?

With the battery reset, you have lost your settings. You will have to teach again. Follow your instructions per you manual on setting the side mirrors. Good luck.

I wish I had that function in my IS250 but between being a 2008 and a manual transmission I think that isn't possible. GL with resetting your mirrors.

The 2IS doesnt have the option to "set" the mirrors to roll down. It should just do it when you have L/R selected on the mirror selector.

You may have to open the mirrors up and give it a clean and see if that works. If not - check that all the connections are cleaned (there is a connector with a brown rubber boot in particular) you will want to check.

Finally, if all else fails - there is a little black module attached to the mirror motors that may have failed and may require replacement. This module I believe pertains to the mirror dipping functionality.

I found I had to buy an entire mirror from the wreckers to replace this - if you are going to go to the wreckers make sure that it's the correct mirror (usually called a 2-plug mirror) because there are plenty of versions of the mirror without this feature.

Be very careful as the clips on the entire modules can snap very easily.

The auto dimming and tilting mirrors were available on an '08 IS250 with manual had the vehicle been ordered from the factory with either the luxury or the sport packages.

Confirming that your IS has the memory seat/wheel/mirror option and
the mirror(s) works normally when maneuvered by the mirror controller buttons...

After setting and memorizing your "going forward" positions for everything,
put the car in reverse and then readjust both mirrors to a suitable "down & out" position.
The reversing positions are Not retained in the 1/2/3 memory, all drivers will have
these settings when in reverse with the mirror selector set to either R or L.
Centering the selector will negate the reversing feature and they stay put.
