Need to replace my exhaust on the cheap. I was going to buy the parts and have my mechanic do the install (wish I had a lift). But when I dropped by to schedule it, he told me he took another job and wasn't scheduling anything. Instead of searching for a new guy, thought I may try climbing under there and doing it myself. But when I looked closely, it looks like the Y pipe is welded and should probably just replace it (never mind trying to get it out). Bought the cat pips from rockauto, and a muffler from amazon, but looking for the part circled. Can't seem to find it anywhere. It's for an 08 250 AWD. The picture if from a place call Muffler Express in Canada (I'm in the US), but not sure if they actually have it, so don't trust ordering it and returning what I bought (it came up on a google search, but searching their site gives you nothing for an is250). Any thoughts appreciated.
The OEM midpipe is a single piece doing a two into one where it bolts to the axleback.
The midpipe bolts to the headers (each bank has a CAT), holds the downstream O2 sensors, 2 secondary CATS, and the single resonator just ahead of the flange to the axleback.
Can you post a pic of what you have? Not fully understanding what you purchased already.
Both the RWD and AWD pipe are a one piece from the stock header/manifolds to rear section. With the exception that the AWD has a bend in the pipe on driver side to clear the front drive shaft.

Brought my car to my local exhaust guy (don't have too many to chose from around me), and he says the Y pipe is just not available. His aftermarket connection don't seem to have anything for an AWD car and the dealer wants over $2k for the entire assembly (plus his mark up and install for $3500 installed). My question is, what is the difference between the AWD and RWD exhausts? I can get the full pipe (cats and Y resonator all attached) for under $700, and have them modify it if it's not too much. Thoughts would be appreciated.
What is actually bad on yours? The Y rusted out? You need another exhaust guy. Anyone can buy or fab a 2 into 1. That guy is a criminal.
If you simply need a 2 into 1 it should be maybe 1.5 hours max. $300 or less. Have you looked on fleabay for a Westcoast car? You could pay up the nose for shipping and bolt it in yourself.
Everything behind the manifold cat is pretty much rusted out (patched it a couple times). So I need the two lower cats, Y/resonator and muffler. I was hoping he could make something for the Y, but he said he can do nothing about attaching something to the existing resonator (some holes right ware they Y goes into the resonator). As and FYI, the entire assemble in the picture above is a welded unit on the car. For RWD cars they sell that entire assembly welded, but everything I see for an AWD are those 2 cats a separate pieces and the Y with resonator portion just does not seem to exist as a separate part (even lexus says it's not a separate part).
I usually don't shop e-bay (I don't have a ton of trust there). All the regular online autoshop don't have what I'm looking for (or ridiculously priced). But will have to give a look. Thanks.
Unless there is something else I do not know about, buying on Ebay is as secured as it can be. Better than any online shop, and that is a fact.
My axleback, swaybar, strutbar, most of my mobile new phones(Pixel 4, Xr, XI), vehicle tires, gaming pc, even a trashcan has been purchased through Ebay.
I would say you are missing out, unless there is something else....
Ended up ordering something from e-bay. Seem like the right parts (says correct year and AWD), but could be a question of quality (only $300 for the whole thing). Seems like the only stuff they had was out of Canada (aside for something that was $1500). We'll see. It isn't e-bay that I'm worried about, but the sellers. You just never know who is selling. I've used it a few times, but was a little screwed once, so always a little weary.
