HID Bulbs - How many do I need?
My wife's 2012 Lexus IS250 uses HID bulbs and I'm looking to replace them but what I'm trying to replace is the low beam bulbs and I'm not sure if I only need one bulb per headlight for both low/high beam use or is the high beam bulb separate? I'm finding mix results online when researching this, so this is why I'm posting here to see if the Club Lexus members can once and for all answer this for me before I move forward with purchasing.
Right now, it's the low beam headlights that are giving us problems, not the high beam so I naturally thought it's got two separate bulbs, but I never tested the high beams when the low beams go out to confirm. We're having an issue where the light goes out randomly but then turns back on and that started with one headlight now the other is doing the same thing, so I would like to replace them both before they totally go out.
Thanks!

Technically, one bulb (D4S). But, this car uses a sort of dual high beam setup. The projector is a bi-xenon setup that moves the shroud down when the high beams are on to put out more light, and then there's the additional 9005 high beam bulb for even more light. Unsure of why Lexus engineers did that, but I've never really checked how the high beams are with the 9005 bulb covered up so I imagine it was a light coverage issue since the projectors aren't the best with that side mount bulb anyways.
Zmon, so it looks like I'm going to check on my high beams to see if there is a different halogen 9005 bulb and if that's the case...I can always get those later as my main focus is getting the low beams. Thanks for your input.
