Default 3is/2is compatibility or carryover?

Just curious about the carryover between these two models. Is the frame essentially the same? So in theory, if someone had both cars, they could completely gut the 2is of interior, power train, wiring harness, ecu, etc. And swap in everything from the 3is? Or would this create a bunch of issues where things from the 3is don't bolt up or line up.

Probably just the engine carries over, and along with some suspension parts. Ex. The LCA bushings. Frame is more like the GS setup.

I think the front suspension might be the same but the rear suspension has been revised... I think sway bars might swap over? Exhaust is totally different since it's a true dual now... wheels and tires should be the same fitment maybe, brakes are the same... intake is similar so I imagine you could swap over the F sport intake tube sans the box. I'd be interested to know if the ISF steering ECU can be brought over to the 3IS...

will the ecu work w/ the transmission since it is a 6 speed on 2IS and 8 speed on 3IS except for AWD which i think was same 6 speed as 2IS...

The 3is in question is still a 6 speed. But shouldn't matter as the ECU from the 3is would be swapped over anyway.

With all wiring, ECU's, power train, suspension, interior, etc getting swapped over. This is really just a question of what will bolt up and what won't.

I’ve wondered if the midpipe would be interchangeable.
