Default Climate control switches off by itself

Hello fellow IS owners,

I've been having a problem with my climate control (2012 IS 350) for the last 3 weeks or so. My climate control has developed a mind of it's own. In the morning, or if the car has been parked and switched off for a while, it fails to remember that the climate control setting was set to 'Auto'. When I start the car, the climate control is off and I have to switch it on. After that it works fine as long as I am driving the car and after I restart without too much of a delay. It almost feels like the climate control's memory gets 'drained' when the car is left off overnight or for a long period of time.

Any tips or pointers on the potential source of this problem?

check your car for AC Error codes. (I’m attaching a YouTube video showcasing how to do it, this avoids the use on OBD tool.)
It’s most probably a bad server motor either on the driver side or passenger side or both as is in my case. you should get error codes like 42, 43 and 53,54 ig. You have to replace these two servo motors.

Did you by chance recently replace your cabin air filter and didn't use the procedure in the user manual?

yes it doesn’t matter the specs tbh
and it works for 2IS and 3IS as well
like someone mentioned check and fix the air filter properly as well
but most probably this is your issue
also this issue happens/triggers easily when you use the Auto button a lot according to my mechanic
