This is my first post on CL so please bear with me. I've experienced an issue with my 06 Is 350 which may or may not be related to the fuel delivery pipe recall work that was done on my car. Here's what happened:
I was on a well paved 2-lane freeway with minimal traffic, and drove "spiritedly" on my way to pick someone up from the train station (Solana Beach, California). After picking up my passenger, we headed back home driving regular speeds, until my dash lit up with CHECK VSC, CHECK ENGINE, STABILITY CONTROL... I smelled gasoline coming inside the cabin and immediately lost power to the accelerator. I used the car's momentum to pull over and noticed a huge gasoline leak under the car. The engine was also steaming hot. I called a tow truck and now the car is parked outside my apartment.
Now, I have no idea what the issue could be. It could be leaking fuel injectors, but that doesn't explain the excessively large puddle of fuel or the steaming engine. I don't think it's related to the cooling system, because my coolant reservoir is full. My engine cranks but doesn't start up. Each attempt of starting the car leads to more fuel leaking under the car. My car did have a leak before this due to a loose fuel pipe bolt but I fixed that and I don't think it's related. Maybe the recall work wasn't done properly... Please offer any suggestions.
Well, i would find where the leak is coming from.
I'm guessing one of the fuel line with a quick disconnect came off.
Maybe it wasnt "Clicked" in well enough and worked itself loose.
It could be the fuel damper. There's a recall on it look it up.
OP said he did it in the first post.
Not much to tell you besides take it back to the dealer and have them fix it considering it most likely happened due to the recall work. That's what I would do anyways.

Well as the OP is still trying to crank while leaking gas. The car might not make it back to the dealer.
Thank you all for the suggestions. I'm going to try and find the leak and assess the damage. If it's more than an easy fix then I'll try the dealership.
Hello, after looking under the bonnet I found this. There is a gap between the two parts of metal where my pliers are pointed. The top has open screw holes or something? Did screws fly out???
Where the hell are your bolts that hold that down?
I think that is part of the dampener recall that was done.
Either you call the dealer who did the recall and have it towed to them or find some 6mm bolts to secure that down and drive to the dealer.
As long as its not leaking after.
I'd call the dealer.
I don't believe they touch those bolts during the JLF (dampers)recall, at least according to the NHTSA repair document. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...8V432-3527.pdf It's also not touched during the old ELF recall as well (the fuel pressure sensor gasket recall). The only recall where it is actually touched and removed is the ALE recall (the valve spring one). If the OP had that done at the same time, or the previous owner did it, the dealer forgot to put those bolts back. I had the JLF recall done a few months ago and recently the fuel pressure gasket started to leak so the dealer redid that recall claiming "the increased pressure from the new dampers and a slightly loose sensor caused a bit of fuel to leak", so that may be the same case here with the OP and his missing bolts.

Yeah I took it in to get the fuel rail recall and I was just simply driving down two lane Street and my VSC went off I reset my ECM with the negative terminal on the battery and 2 two fuses and vsc keeps popping up... on hot days when I run my ac I would smell gas fumes blowing throw my cabin. Interesting enough on cold days it doesn't happen ...... anyone find anything yet
