Default Lock car while running?

I start my car to warm it up when it is really cold since my commute is very short. But when I leave the car running in my driveway I cannot lock the doors. Is there a way to change this setting? I would like to be able to walk away from a locked and running car with the keys in my pocket. Is it possible?

This is a fantastic thread. Looks like I need to use the key to lock it. My commute is less than 1 mile, so my engine doesnt even get to 1/4 warm by the time I get to work. WIll it damage the engine to drive it cold over and over?

Commute less than 1 mile!!!!!!! Seriously in a V6

yes, short journeys will have a detrimental effect on the engine oil at least, you should change it more often than reccomended.
engine needs to get hot enough to stop condensation forming, on inside of block when turned off, and contaminating oil.
Waste of time/fuel warming up engine before your "commute" if it's only 1 mile, that is unless you let it run for about 30 mins!

I am very fortunate to live close to where I work. But I know it isnt good for my car. I change my oil at 3k no matter what the manufacturer says.
