Lock doors while engine is running
Does anybody know how to lock their newer model RX model while leaving the car running ? I have a cpl dogs and sometimes I run errands with them or stop by somewhere on the way back from the vet, etc. Not a big deal if its 60-70 degrees and you partially roll down the windows, but when its really hot or really cold I would never leave them in the car like that. Any ideas or suggestions ???
Get out and restart the car with the remote start, press the fob lock button three times quickly
and hold the last press until the marker lights flash. RX will now run for up to 10 minutes with
the air on and doors locked. Consider getting signs for the rear windows or some well meaning
type will come along and bust a window to "save" your menagerie.

I fully agree. Dogs have been known to dislodge the shifter when jumping around. And yes, I know you have to press the brake pedal.....still....
Power window switches used to have a fore/aft rocker instead of the pull up/press down we have now.
Trips to the Vet with a wandering cat would often result in a paw invoked express window roll down...!!!

On our 2012 we could lock the doors from the outside when the car was running (AC for the dog). Is there a way to do that on our 2017? We don't have remote start. The keyhole is under the door handle and I don't see how to get the mechanical key into it to lock the doors. I looked in the Owners Manual and gave up!

1. Leave the car running with a/c on.
2. Exit vehicle.
3. To use the mechanical key, you need to pull the handle open slightly, just enough that the latch does not open the door. Now bend down, to look up from below the handle. You will see the key insert. You can use the mechanical key to lock the door with the car running.
I’ve done it, and its a pain in the ****.

thanks, and a entire weekend project 🤛🏿
There has got to be a way! All I found was leaving the driver window down enough to press door lock, ,then you can unlock it with the key. The 2012 was simple, just lock with the key but can't do that on the 2017.
