Navigation won’t Dim, PLEASE help
so my navigation will not dim, no matter if I turn the dimmer switch in either direction. (And yes, it clicks) no matter if I turn the headlights on, off or auto. There’s also no sign of the night mode button in the display menu either.
interestingly enough, the instrument cluster responds normally to the dimmer switch and even the clock below the navigation system. BUT the Navi itself is completely unaffected..
Ive tried everything, from disconnecting the battery to connecting techstream to find a fault. No good
I do have access to AllData with virtually every wiring diagram imaginable so if anyone has an idea I can probably make it happen... I’m just all out of ideas.
Oh yeah, I’ve removed the radio before but at this point I’ve gone back behind it again to verify everything is as it should be. It all looks fine. I’m hoping someone know how to narrow the function down to a couple of wires. But “any help” will be greatly appreciated

The sensor on the defrost vent at the base of the windshield dims and brightens the instruments?
In the touch screen menu under DISPLAY, there is a toggle button for auto dim. You check that?

I was troubleshooting this thing for hours!!
the sensor your referring to is connected and seems to be working just fine.
i say that because when i cover it up, The headlights come on, the dash lights dim AND the clock near the radio dims as well.
so basically everything is dimming as normal EXCEPT the navigation

none of the lights work on the radio or climate control buttons... you wouldn’t believe how annoying it is trying to cut on the defrost while riding down a dark road.
Are there any Lexus technicians that can give me a clue as to what may be causing this issue or perhaps a workaround to get the lights working on the radio?

i can’t figure this thing out... I was sure at the very least I’d find a way to manually invoke night mode. Especially since the dimmer switch seems to run on ground current.
but no matter what I do I can’t get the screen to dim, can’t get the buttons to light up on the radio and my whole navigation system is being rendered pretty much useless at night.
im really surprised no one here has any suggestions on how to manually invoke night mode. Maybe I’ll upload the navigation wiring diagrams and someone else may notice something I missed. Or it could help them with another project.

If you got schematics from TIS website, did you notice a step by step troubleshooting process? It could be that a component has failed. This would not be easily depicted by the schematics.
Actually ive been using alldata to troubleshoot... but you’ve got a good point there. Thanks. I’ll pm you to see if there’s anymore where that came from.

I noticed something else really interesting. I'm not able to access the hidden menu anymore.
your're suppose to be able to hold the info button and cycle the headlight then a special menu pops up. well... it's not working.

I regret to admit, I found the problem. Fortunately, I found it before I went to the stealer.
somehow, I neglected to check one of the fuse panels. Our IS250 or any other 2IS comes with at least three fuse panels. One under the hood and one near each kick panel in the front seats. The DRIVER side has a 7.5amp fuse labeled “panel.”
thats the fuse responsible for this functionality.

So what interior mods are done that you pulled? Are they related to the fuse being compromised?
