NEED HELP! Transmission/Transfer case
Hello, I’m new to this and I really need your input. I have 2010 Lexus IS 250 awd. I bought it as a project flood car. Please no hate about flood cars, not my first rodeo. Ended up replacing engine and transmission. For the most part things worked out well except for couple of issues. First, I have no clue where the fill bolt is for the transfer case, called like 7 dealers and they couldn’t tell me.
Another issue, my car is in P position and it rolls like it’s in N, is here a fuse or a relay that controls transmission?
I will appreciate any ideas, and will let you know how it turns out, thanks

i just hate to damage the transfer case, bc it has its own “oil pan”

thanks Mike, I was thinking about that it’s one unit, wanted some confirmation, I’m gonna check tranny fluid, since it was bone dry bc it was f rom the junk yard and they drain the fluids, I’ve added 7 quarts if it takes about 3 more it would make sense that it’s one unit,
i just hate to damage the transfer case, bc it has its own “oil pan”
I was looking at the diagram of the transfer case. It doesn't show plug, or drain plug either. It just shows the pan itself, and bolts.

yup! there is also two small 10mm bolts right next to that "oil pan" one dealer suggested that that is how they fill it with pressure and drain it.
I know that the new cars they are making them so you would have to take them to the dealer but still, you have the right to do your own work...

ill take some pic of the old transmission that i have laying around for reference,
there is nothing at the top, dealer only told me that it takes WS transmission oil, couldn't tell me how much.

on the last picture, i was thinking that the rusted bolt next to the sensor there could be the fill bolt, bc it seems like on the inside there is pluming to get the oil into the transfer case??
what do you guys think about that??

does anyone happen to have a service manual shop/manual or subscription to alldatadiy and could definitively know if the transfer case gets oil from the transmission ? How do you service on your own the transfer case?

so I took the transfer case apart and it looks like it gets lubricant oil from the transmission

On this pic part of the transfer case is ion the tranny
You are looking at the transmission, with a the transfer case off. See on the left there is an opening so that the oil can flow through to the transfer case

That's great news now this speculation has been put to rest.
Maybe have a MOD sticky this to the first link I posted above.
Another less thing I have to worry about changing fluids.
If you have to drain, and fill the next time it's exactly 4 QTS for the IS250. I'm not sure if the 350AWD is a slightly larger capacity. First 50k the oil was black. It took me 4 drain and fills to get it cherry red again. Fast forward to my 80K drain, and fill. Oil was still good. I'm draining, and fill every 30k to keep it fresh. Aisin WS from RockAuto is working great for me.

I filled 7 quarts, and let the car run until fans turned on, then went thru all the "gears" P R N D for 10 sec each, then added another quart. I will check the level when i get a chance to get her on the lift
--have no clue how to do that ...
