Default New carburetor?

The dealer just recommended a new carburetor for my 2009 IS250 to the tune of $1400. It was not driven for 8 weeks this summer and then after less than 10 miles it broke down. It has less than 50k miles on it. The local service station says it just needs cleaning. Any ideas?

That's a lot of money for a Holley 4 barrel. Where are they going to put it?

Are you sure the dealer said carburetor You know they haven't used carburetors on automobiles in America since the early 1990s.

There have been zero Lexus models with a carburetor ever, so it's probably not that. I'd maybe double check with them on what part they were recommending, and if they still say carburetor I would have someone else take a look at the car.

1990 was the last year Toyota used a carburetor on a car in North America I believe (Tercel, 2WD Pickup).

Just be glad your mechanic said it only needed "a new carburetor". The IS250, man its such a powerhouse, it has tri-power, aka 3 carburetors. Just be glad your mechanic said it only needed "a carburetor" instead of all 3 of them.

Notice the OP only has one post. Some of you are sure making him (her) feel welcome Why not layoff the silly comments, i.e. Holley, Try-Power
