Black Screen Navigation system/ climate control issues
I need help regarding my navigation and climate control. I had my alternator replaced but my navigation system and climate controls still not working. Radio working thru the steering wheel buttons. Every now and then the navigation screen will come on and the power consumption pops up then screen turns black again. Any ideas what’s wrong with it? Help please!!!

Lexus said it would cost $2600 for a refurbished unit as they don’t replace electronic parts.

What is the digitizer? Is that the touchscreen? If it is, my touch screen works whenever the navigation turns back on. I am able to work it but then it to goes white screen to black screen.

Hey guys, sorry to bring back a thread from over three years ago--- but I just finally got my 2001 GS430 back up and running--- it was put away for several years! I installed all new adjustable controls arms, myself--- in my frickin driveway-- at night- it was a NIGHTMARE-- but got everything installed, and had a (Mechman) Alternator installed yesterday- but as I was driving it home, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENTIRE NAV SCREEN WENT BLACK, including the Climate Control section (physical buttons w/ the Temp, etc) above it---I had it on "Auto" (like it should be) and thank goodness- the a/c was still stuck in the mode I had it on--- 72 degrees and AUTO- blowing cold (it was like 85 degrees out- and I just detailed the interior and didn't want to put the windows down on the dusty road I was on at the time) -- but the little green light in the "AUTO" button went out--- and the strangest thing is: it seems that whenever the screen went black, the far right side of the clock (last number on the right) was more DIM?
It ending up powering back up the next time I started it in my driveway, along with the climate control--- then I took it around the block and all three units blinked for a sec and EVERYTHING went black. The climate control panel, entire nav screen AND the radio/tape player section. I was ready to give up on life... So frustrated...
Does anybody have an advice on this--- and I apologize if the answer IS simply the digitizer and/or in the "clicky click" link above --- I didn't open that yet. But doing that NOW!
Going away tomorrow til next week - for a show called SlamFest, in Tampa FL.and was hoping that along the way or when I come back I can see if anybody had the answer for me, so I can fix the poor GS4.
